Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Stratford, Aberavon, Karistad Sweden, Cardiff, Birmingham, Gothenburg Sweden, Yeovil, Porthcawl, Swansea and Brecon including yet two more all time club records!

Tuesday 2nd July Eli Onyewu runs a 10.79 windy 100m and U20M William Hawker comes very close to the club U20M club record by running a super fast time of 10.86 at Stratford, well done both!

Wednesday 3rd July was the second fixture of three in the Run 4 All Neath 5km series at Aberavon, in dry but very windy conditions six Swansea Harriers were in action with Jamie Cameron crossing the line in 11th place in 18.17 followed home by 27th Thomas Morris 19.33, 41st Sarah Christensen 20.47, 78th Alan Davies 24.04, 79th Deborah Matthews 24.05 and 82nd Tori Barry 24.15, well done all!

Thursday 4th July U20W Hannah Kinane breaks her own all time club record in the 800m recording the super fast time of 2.07.15 at Karistad, Sweden, well done Hannah that was amazing!

Saturday 6th July was the Welsh Schools U15, U17 & U20 Championships at Cardiff, several of our athletes were in action, most of whom were representing the Afan Nedd Tawe School District, very well done to all those who took part, individual highlights included medal winning performances set by:

Saturday 6th July in the British Milers Club World Athletics Challenger series at Birmingham U23M Dafydd Jones runs 8.05.87 for 3000m placing 8th in his race and Darcie Bass runs a 2.18.35 for 7th in her 800m, well done both!

Saturday 6th July U20W Hannah Kinane runs a 56.89 for 400m in the Gothenburg Youth Games in Sweden, well done Hannah!

Sunday 7th July was the third round of the National Athletics League for our senior Men & Women’s teams had another great day despite fielding depleted teams due to the Welsh Schools the day before. The teams made it three from three a clean sweep of the main league matches this summer and now progress to the National Athletics League Promotion match on Saturday 3rd August at Bedford where with a full strength team are good enough to get into the 8 team Premiership in 2025 we hope! Thank you to all the athletes, team managers and officials and coaches who’ve supported the club so well over the three league matches. Sunday 7th July was the Porthcawl 10km where in warm and breezy conditions in the Men both Dewi Griffiths and Joshua Griffiths had excellent sub 30 runs to step onto the podium with Dewi in 2nd with 29.15 and Joshua in 3rd with 29.48, followed home by 8th Jonathan Butler 30.54, 66th Daniel Morgan 37.24 and 122nd Steven Taylor 39.11 making our top five. In the Women we had just the two runners with 5th Kate Roberts 36.41 and 18th Jemima Osborn-Nash 42.05, well done everyone!

Wednesday 10th July was the third and final Swansea Bay 5km series where once again the club was well represented. Our first five Men home were Blair McWhirter who had a superb run to take the win in 15.45 followed across the finish line by 3rd Craig Seaman 16.42, 7th Oliver Cobbold 17.42, 11th Jack Sullivan 18.18 and 13th Alan Davies 18.22. Our top 5 Women were in great form making a clean sweep of the podium paces with 1st Iona Evans 19.17, 2nd Kristy Smith 19.36 and 3rd Megan Clements 19.41 they were followed home by 6th Sarah Christensen 20.07 and 9th Lyla Jonsson 20.46. Wednesday 10th July was the NASUWT Welsh Schools U14 & U16 Cup and Plate Finals at Brecon, Swansea Harriers athletes were in action representing their school teams that qualified from the Afan Nedd Tawe Cup matches held at Neath at the end of June. Individual highlights included event wins for U14G Cup Katriel Udoh 27.22 200m & 1.45m High Jump, U14G Plate Lyla Jonsson 5.06.45 1500m, U14G Cup Freya Birt 11.73 70m Hurdles, U16B Cup Ruari Harris 11.55 100m, U16B Cup Henry Payne 11.18m Triple Jump, U16G Plate Millie Pierce 4.47.83 1500m and a Championship record, amazing Millie!
