Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Gothenburg Sweden, Tonypandy, Chepstow, Eton x 2, Stratford and St Clears, including yet another all time club record!
Tuesday 13th until Sunday 25th August were the World Masters Track & Field Championships at Gothenburg, Sweden, to date M65 Roderick Davies placed 5th in heat 2 of the 100m recording 15.28, W75 Daphne Marler was 11th in the Triple Jump with 3.88m, well done both, with a few days to go of the Championships we’ll give you another update next week to see how everyone else gets on against the very best masters in the World!
Wednesday 14th August was the Tonypandy 1000m & 5000m open meeting in the juniors 1000m U15G Hannah Jones placed 6th in 3.16.90 and brother U13B Tomi Jones 11th in 3.24.10. The 5000m saw U23M Dafydd Jones have another quick time of 13.49.65 to place 2nd, followed by 21st Matthew Verran 15.41.44. The elite 1000m saw SW Darcie Bass come home in 3rd 3.01.20, well done all!
Saturday 17th August was the Chepstow Running Festival 5k, 10k & Half Marathon Tina Gabb placed 34th in the Womens 10km race coming home in 59.30, well done Tina.
Saturday 17th August was the Home Countries U20 International at Eton Wales V England V England B V Northern Ireland. The Wales team was captained by William Hawker and contained three Swansea Harriers, William was 6th in the 100m with 11.06, Samuel Davies jumped a very, very impressive 2.08m the High Jump for the win and Lucy Harris was 2nd in the Discus with 38.86m, congratulations to all three on some very much deserved International vests!
Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th August were the England Athletics Combined Events Junior Championships at Eton where we had three of our juniors in action. U17W Matilda Quick had another very successful weekend in the Heptathlon winning GOLD amassing 4871 points, breaking her own All Time Club Record in the process and moving up to 3rd on the Welsh All Time U17 Rankings courtesy of a 26.40 200m, 2.31.23 800m, 11.94 80m Hurdles, 1.64m High Jump, 5.15m Long Jump, 12.98m Shot & 31.90m Javelin.
U15 Girls Tabitha Ventress-Brett & Lauren Oshisanya had their first ever go at a Hexathlon, Tabitha scored 2474 points with a 2.40.33 800m, 14.12 75m Hurdles, 1.33m High Jump, 4.23m Long Jump, 6.94m Shot & 20.99m Javelin. Lauren scored 2307 points with a 3.13.50 800m, 13.31 75m Hurdles, 1.36m High Jump, 4.29m Long Jump, 9.48m Shot & 13.79m Javelin. Well done all three on such magnificent performances held over two long days.
Sunday 18th August at Stratford SW Hannah Brier runs a super fast 100m of 11.30 which if it hadn’t been for an illegal wind of +2.7m would of beaten her all time Welsh & Club record for the 100m, her 23.32 200m was close 0.03 to her best too, this time with a legal wind. Eli Onyewu ran a fast but wind assisted 10.79 for the 100m and Lemarl Freckleton a legal 10.90 100m. Well done all!
Sunday 18th August was the St Clears 10km incorporating the West Wales Seniors & Masters Championships. The run took over 100 runners through the town of St Clears and out around the local scenic countryside, before finishing outside the Leisure Centre. Congratulations to everyone who took part and to our three age group medallists. In the Women we had just one runner Kristy Smith who came away with the SILVER in the senior section with a 41.51. In the Men we had four finishers 9th Alan Davies 39.25 for M65+ GOLD, 16th Owen Davies 41.13, 19th Paul Llewellyn 42.22 for M55-64 BRONZE and 29th Daniel Thomas 45.47.
