Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Corby, Glendalough Ireland and Swansea including a World Record!

Saturday 7th September was the England Masters Inter Area Challenge at Corby. Four Swansea Harriers were selected for the Wales team which was great to see, W75 Daphne Marler ran a seasons best in the 100m crossing the line in 6th in a time of 28.68, M55 Glyn Price was 4th in the High Jump with 1.40m & 1st in the Pole Vault with 3.50m, M65 Roderick Davies was 3rd in the Long Jump with 3.84m and W40 Isobel Dawson set a lifetime best in the Javelin with a best of 19.24m to place 6th. Well done all on such a great set of results.

Saturday 14th September U17W Millie Pierce was selected to represent Wales in the British & Irish Junior Mountain Running Championships at Glendalough, Ireland, having a great run to place 6th less than 30 seconds from a podium sport and help Wales win team BRONZE V England V Ireland V Scotland, congratulations Millie!

Sunday 15th September was the Swansea Bay 10km 3km & 1km. Subject to ratification, there was a World Record (Yes World Record) set by our very own Alan Davies who at 72 years young, crossed the line in 37.05, breaking the World over 70 record of 37.12 set last year , that is absolutely amazing, congratulations Alan!

in In the Main race there was an awesome win for Dewi Griffiths just one second of his lifetime best in 28.21, Dewi was followed home by 6th Joshua Griffiths having a great run too breaking 30 minutes in 29.55, 7th Jonathan Butler 30.28, 12th Matthew Verran 32.35 and 20th Craig Seaman 33.57 making up our top five Men. In the Women our first four all had superb runs to break into the top 10, our top five home were 5th Megan Carter-Davies 36.14, 6th Caryl Edwards 36.14, 8th Gemma Tutton 36.41, 10th Megan Williams 37.09 and 18th Emily Barnett 40.23, well done everyone, there were over 60 club members finishing the race, click here to see how they all got on.

In the Junior 3km our top 5 boys and girls home were: Boys: 2nd Jack Griffiths 10.23, Harry Wells 11.45, Aeron Hill 11.45, Lucas Gibbs 11.49 and Macsen Pugh 14.02. Girls: 1st Lyla Jonsson 11.30, Emily Evans-Williams 12.13, Rosie Jones 12.29, Hannah Sullivan 12.48 and Tabitha Ventress-Brett 12.53.

In the Junior 1km our top 5 boys and girls home were: Boys Jenson Achilleos took the win in 3.21, followed in 3rd by Joshua Hobbs 3.31, 6th Lucas Williams, Oscar Barker-Smith 4.15 and Sam Griffiths 4.45. In the Girls it was a clean sweep of the podium places with 1st Sofia Morgan 3.49, 2nd Eva Bezodis 4.01 and 3rd Matilda Warchal 4.10 and Lily Davies 4.30.
