Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Cwmavon and Cardiff.

Sunday 3rd November was the Richard Burton 10km, held of a challenging and undulating course there was another great turn out from the club, our top five Men & Women home were: Men: Dewi Griffiths had another fine win breaking the 30 minute barrier yet again in 29.49 winning the Welsh Athletics 10km series in the process. Dewi was followed home by 3rd Jonathan Butler 31.56 having a great run too to get onto the podium, 13th Jamie Taylor-Caldwell 34.54, 14th Matthew Harvey 34.53 and 19th Liam Lloyd 35.40. Women: first home in 12th was Mai Davies 41.15 followed by 13th Kristy Smith 41.31, 18th Luticia Thomas 42.44, 19th Chloe Hartley-Green 42.50 and 26th Millie Pierce. Saturday 9th November where another fantastic day was had in round 2 of 5 in the John Collins Cross Country League held jointly with round 1 of 5 in the British Cross Challenge Series at Cardiff. In dreary weather conditions there was another great turnout from the club with almost 100 of our members in action. Plenty of our teams and individuals are towards the top of their respective age group league tables. Thank you to all the athletes who ran especially those outside our scoring 4 juniors and 5 seniors, as they pay an invaluable role, in preventing athletes from other teams accumulating as many points. Below are our our scoring athletes from a league perspective.

U11G: with 19 U11G running for the team there was another fine win for 1st Mollie-Mae Mqueen who also got 2nd in the British Cross Challenge, 18th Ruby Harvey-Flinn; 34th Matilda Warchal and 40th Olive Knutson-Watson. The girls are in a podium 2nd place in the league.

U11B: Having a great run to get into the top 10 was 6th Jenson Achilleos; 53rd Bowen Davies, 77th Max Rankin and 80th Keegan Beale, the team are doing well 9th in the league.

U13G: first home was 19th Emily Evans-Williams then, 23rd Gwennan Grufydd, 32nd Poppy Brannigan and 39th Rosie Jones. The team are also doing well 5th in the league.

U13B: saw our 2nd win of the day for Oliver Cobbold, followed home by 10th Isaac Mcadie, 19th Tomi Jones and 28th Lucas Gibbs and they are sitting on top of the league table.

U15G: 12th Lyla Jonsson, 17th Katie Evans, 31st Darcy Gibbon and 39th Hannah Jones, the team are just outside a podium sport, 4th in the league.

U15B: 10th Osian Morgan, 11th Jack Griffiths, 45th Deri Jones and 59th Mandikuzda Mupita, the team are 6th in the league.

U17W: It was a clean sweep of the top 3 with a win for Libby Hale who was also 3rd in the British Cross Challenge, 2nd Millie Gold, 3rd Holly Humphreys and 8th Ava Davies. Amazingly our A team are top of the league and B team 2nd, the B team were 11th Olivia Morgan, 26th Chloe Hartley-Green, 30th Lottie Robinson and 40th Imogen Mcadie.

U17M: Jack Sullivan was our sole competitor and we are awaiting his exact finishing position to be included in the results.

U20M: No runners.

U20W: both our runners got into the top 10 with 5th Hollie Lewis and 9th Mai Davies, the team are just outside a podium spot, 4th in the league.

SM: saw another fine win for Dafydd Jones, followed home by 19th Edward Davies, 20th Morgan James, 86th Andrew Cleverly and 91st Ben Williams completing our scoring 5, the team are now up to 6th in Division 1.

SW: first home in 6th was Gemma Tutton, followed by 22nd Bronwen Stratton-Thomas, 28th Joanna Callan, 30th Lucy Richards and 37th Maria Kowal completing our top 5. The team are sitting in a podium sport 2nd in Division 1!
