Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Belfast, Newtown, Glasgow, Alton Towers, Pembrey & Gowerton.

Saturday 16th November was the British and Irish Masters Cross Country International at Belfast, Ireland. Where two Swansea Harriers were selected for the Wales team, with the main highlight being a fantastic win for M65 Ifan Lloyd in his age category and the only Welsh Medal of the championship, and M40 Matthew Harvey had a great run too and finished 62nd, congratulations both!

Saturday 16th November was the Welsh Inter Regional & Inter Schools Cross Country Championships at Newtown. The Seniors were in the main representing the West Wales region and the juniors both the West Region and their school teams. Races were held over a fast underfoot course and the weather was good. Highlights included:

U13G 15th Emily Evans-Williams, 16th Gwennan Grufydd and 17th Rosie Jones who were in the scoring 8 helping West Wales win team GOLD and 64th Freya Cleverly.

U13B saw a fantastic win for Oliver Cobbold, followed home by 10th Isaac Mcadie, 30th Lucas Gibbs, 34th Tomi Jones who were in the scoring 8 to help West Wales to team SILVER, and 49th Felix Davies.

U15G 10th Lyla Jonsson, 17th Katie Evans and 30th Darcy Gibbon were all in the scoring 8 to help West Wales to team BRONZE followed by 31st Sienna Hurley, 36th Hannah Sullivan and 48th Aimee Besley.

U15B Osian Morgan was 10th and our sole runner.

U17&U20W saw a fantastic win for Libby Hale, Millie Pierce was 4th U17W, Mai Davies took U20W SILVER with a great run, Chloe Hartley-Green 8th U17W and Imogen Mcadie 27th U17W where the U17W took team GOLD for West Wales.

U17M&U20M again this week Jack Sullivan was our sole U17M coming home 11th U17M and helping West Wales to team BRONZE.

Senior & Masters Women SW Kristy Smith was 18th, Mw45+ Julie Hartley-Green was 17th and Felicity Jones 31st helping West Wales to team SILVER.

Senior & Masters Men M35+ Andrew Cleverly was 12th & Patrick Tudor 21st both helping West Wales to team SILVER, SM Jack Turner 20th, SM Hywel Longman 82nd.

Saturday 16th November was the U16 & U18 Wales V England V Scotland V Ireland Schools Indoor Combined Events International @ Glasgow. We had two athletes selected for Wales with U18W Matilda Quick captaining the team in her 4th Schools Combined Events International, and she was in fine form again coming away with an individual SILVER and team BRONZE courtesy of amassing 3698 points with a 12.51m Shot, 9.13 60m Hurdles, 5.42m Long Jump, 1.66m High Jump and 2.34.54 800m. U16W Tabitha Ventress-Brett set 5 personal bests on route to her 15th place and 2699 points courtesy of a 4.61m Long Jump, 10.15 60m Hurdles, 1.36m High Jump, 8.31m Shot and 2.31.85 800m. Saturday 16th November Joshua Griffiths won the Alton Towers 10km for the second year running, crossing the line in 31:23, very many congratulations Josh!

Sunday 17th November was the MT 10 Mile Multi Terrain Race at Pembrey Country Park, as the title suggests the race was held of a challenging 10 Mile Multi Terrain race where we had 6 finishers. In the Womens race Diane Brownhill was home first for the club in 7th, followed home by 9th Millie Thorne, 13th Lois Woodward and 14th Jennifer Roberts. In the Men we had two runners with 35th Richard Sullivan and 68th Christopher Jones, well done all on such great runs.

Tuesday 19th November were the Afan Nedd Tawe Secondary Schools & Colleges cross country development races held at Elba Gowerton. In drizzly conditions 484 pupils finished the races over a flat but soft underfoot course. Swansea Harriers athletes placing in the top 10 were:

Year 7 Girls 2000m: 1st Poppy Brannigan.

Year 7 Boys 2000m: 1st Tomi Jones.

Year 8&9 Girls 2700m: 1st Lyla Jonsson, 3rd Rosie Jones, 5th Eliza Parry, 6th Gwennan Grufydd, 7th Darcy Gibbon, 8th Hannah Sullivan & 10th Aisha Keough.

Year 8&9 Boys 2700m: 1st Jack Griffiths, 2nd Oliver Cobbold, 5th Isaac Mcadie, 8th Bo Cuthbertson & 9th Lucas Gibbs.

Years 10 to 14 Girls 3000m: 1st Holly Humphreys, 2nd Chloe Hartley-Green, 5th Hannah Jones, 6th Sienna Hurley, 9th Imogen Mcadie & 10th Tabitha Ventress-Brett.

Years 10 to 14 Boys 3000m: 4th Osian Morgan, 7th Matthew Hines & 9th Tomos Ap Simon.
