Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Blacktown Australia, Porthcawl, Cardiff, Mountain Ash & Kenfig.
Saturday 21st December SW Lauryn Davey runs a 100m PB of 12.69 and a 200m time of 26.81 in Blacktown, Australia, well done Lauryn!
Thursday 26th December was the Glynneath 5 Mile Boxing Day race which saw Dewi Griffiths take a comfortable victory from the 250+ finishers, crossing the line in a time of 22.23, he was followed home by Guy Smith who also stepped onto the podium for SILVER in 26.31, then 5th Jamie Taylor-Caldwell 27.01, 6th Joshua Morgan 27.30 and 14th Matthew Harvey 28.45, completing our top 5 Men home, but just behind was M65 Ifan Lloyd broke the Welsh M65 record with 29:06, many congratulations Ifan! Thursday 26th December was the Porthcawl Boxing Day 6.5km Run where we had 4 runners amongst the 430 who finished on the day. New signing Evan Price was our first runner home in 14th in 22.45, followed home by another new member 24th Daniel May 24.10 welcome to the club boys, then it was our masters M70+ 10km World Record Holder 26th M70 Alan Davies 24.22 and Deborah Matthews 31.28, well done all, click here for the full results.
Sunday 29th December was the Old Father Time 5 Mile (Masters 35+ only) race at Cardiff. Ifan Lloyd broke the Welsh M65 record at Glynneath on Boxing Day with 29:06 and he nearly broke it again at Old Father Time on Sunday with 29:11 coming home first from the club in 17th overall. W35 Katie Roberts was first in her age group with 29.45, Alan Davies recently missed several weeks training through injury but he still ran 31:05 to revise the Welsh M70 record by 3:35 having set world bests at 5 km (18:08 in Cardiff) and 10km (37:07 in Swansea) earlier in the 2024! M40 Maria Kowal was 3rd in her age group with 31.58 and W45 Helen-Marie Davies in 33.31 and M60 Peter Osborne 33.55. Well done all! Images courtesy of Paul Stillman.
Tuesday 31st December was the Nos Galan 5km Road Races at Mountain Ash. In the Men’s elite 5km we had two finishers, where Ben Mitchell broke into the top 10 with 9th in 15.46 and M65 Ifan Lloyd was 53rd in 18.14. The main highlight was a a podium spot for Megan Mitchell who had a fine run for 2nd in 17.52, followed home by 10th Iona Evans 19.31, 26th Millie Thorne 21.34 and 36th Sharon Leech 22.12. In the junior races Tabitha Ventress-Brett was our sole runner coming home 7th in the Girls. Very well done everyone, click here for the full results.
Wednesday 1st January was the Prince of Wales 5km at Kenfig, over a very challenging multi terrain course. First home for the club in 10th was Daniel May 24.15, followed home by Maria Kowal who had a superb run to win the Women’s race in 25.43, Paul Llewellyn was 25th in 26.49, 37th Steve Smith 28.30 and 52nd Richard Jones 30.17. Very well done all on such a tough course.
