Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Cardiff x 2, Deeside, Manchester, Glasgow & Pembrey.

Saturday 1st February was the British Universities Cross Country Championships at Cardiff. More details on this next time, when the results have been uploaded to the power of 10 so we can see who was running from the club for their university teams. Click here for the full provisional results.

Saturday 1st February was the Welsh Masters Indoor Field Event Championships at Deeside where M65 Roderick Davies came away with a SILVER in the Long Jump 3.64m, W75 Daphne Marler went one better with a GOLD in her age group in the Long Jump with 1.71m and another GOLD in the Triple Jump with 3.83m. Well done both!

Saturday 1st February SW Carys Jones pole vaults up to 3.87m at Manchester, well done Carys!

Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd February were the Welsh U13 U15 & U20 Indoor Athletics Championships at Cardiff. It wasn’t our biggest turnout or medal haul ever, nevertheless those that did enter performed admirably with plenty of personal bests set an invaluable championship experience gained. Special congratulations to all our medal winner listed below:

7 GOLD: U20M Charlie Shuall 4.30m Pole Vault, U13G Molly-Mae Mqueen 5.20.79 1500m, U15G Freya Birt 2.51m Pole Vault & 9.47m Triple Jump, U20W Amy Beynon 3.01m Pole Vault U20W Matilda Quick 10.76m Shot and U13G Poppy Brannagan 1.43m High Jump.

8 SILVER: U15B Elliot Lloyd 2.20m Pole Vault; U13G Poppy Brannagan 10.76 60m Hurdles, U13G Lily Shubin 3.82m Long Jump, U20W Bethan Holley 10.48m Triple Jump, U20W Matilda Quick 1.62m High Jump & 5.47m & Long Jump, U15G Rutendo Chasweka 4.54m Long Jump and U15B Oliver Cobbold 9.45.84 3000m.

8 BRONZE: U20M Harry Newton 4.20m Pole Vault; U13G Lily Shubin 10.83 60m Hurdles, U15G Lyla Jonsson 5.01.79 1500m, U15G Hannah Sullivan 1.81m Pole Vault, U20M Jeremy Young 6.05m Long Jump, U20W Sophie Taylor 5.41m Long Jump, U15G Gwennan Gruffydd 11.51.20 3000m and U13B Poppy Brannagan 3.82m Long Jump.

Sunday 2nd February at Glasgow in the Scottish Athletics Indoor International Hannah Brier runs a fast 53.35 for 400m, well done Hannah.

Sunday 2nd February was the West Glamorgan Cross Country League at Pembrey Country Park. In the Men’s race the first four home for the club were 8th Patrick Tudor, 17th Paul Flynn, 24th Martyn Hughes-Dowdle, 66th Peter Osborne and 96th David Rees. The team are placed well in 3rd in Division 1 with one round to go. The Women’s race saw Maria Kowal come home in 3rd, 39th Caroline Morgan, 43rd Angela Delaney and 70th Sian Phillips. The team are now 6th in Division 1 and will need a big turnout in the final fixture to avoid relegation.
