Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Cardiff, Armagh, Sheffield, Swansea, Llanelli, Wrexham & Alicante Spain.

Saturday 1st February were the British Universities Cross Country Championships held at Cardiff, well done to all those who ran, after trawling through the results we have found the following four performances from our athletes representing their University teams. In the Womens 6km 71st Bronwen Stratton-Thomas 384th Elen Eirys James 416th Aimee Rayner and in the Womens 8km Kelcy Hooper was 111th. Thursday 13th February were the Armagh International Road Races in Northern Ireland, in what are some exceptionally quick races each year, packed full of talent. The main highlight came in the Women’s 3km with an awesome win for our very own Verity Ockenden in 9.05, Hannah Kinane came home in 28th 9.44 and representing Wales Millie Gold crossed the line in 33rd 9.51. In the Mens 5km Jonathan Butler finished 59th in 14.23 and Matthew Verran 150th in 14.56. Congratulations to all five on some incredibly quick runs.

Friday 14th until Sunday 16th February were the British Universities Indoor Athletics Championships held at Sheffield. There were again plenty of Swansea Harriers athletes there representing their university teams. We had two men make it all the way to the 60m final, with 4th William Hawker 6.85 and 5th Eniola Adedotun 6.90, Victoria Ovie was 4th in her 200m heat in 27.83, Darcie Bass was 3rd in her 800m heat in 2.19.06, Bronwen Stratton-Thomas came home in 4th in her 1500m heat 4.41.63, another 4th place went to Edward Davies in his 3000m heat 8.44.69, yet another 4th this time to Samuel Davies in the High Jump final with 2.05m, Rebekah Pratt was 7th in her Pole Vault with 2.53m & 4.10m in her Long Jump pool & 7.67m Shot for 10th in her pool, Lauryn Davey was 9th in the Long Jump final with a best of 5.29m, Luisa von Schnitzler was 13th in her Triple Jump pool with 10.12m and Gwennan Lewis made all the way to the Shot final for 12th in a best of 10.03m, congratulations to them all on such a great set of results.

Saturday 15th February were the West Wales Indoor 60m, 60m Hurdles & Shot U11 to Senior Championships at Swansea. Being a home match there was a fantastic turnout from the club with over 150 entries! Very well done to all those who took part and thank you to all the volunteers who made the event possible. Individual highlights included medal winning performances set by:

Sunday 16th February was the Llanelli 10km & Half Marathon. In the 10km Millie Gold had a great run to win the SILVER medal in 36.55, followed home by 9th Sarah Christensen 43.31 and 13th Tori Barry 45.35, Tom Morris was our sole runner in the Men’s 10km with a 41.37 for 45th. In the Half Marathon our top 3 Men were Craig Jones was first home in 7th 1.16.01 followed by 12th Andrew Cleverley 1.16.50 and 36th Robert Hughes 1.24.50. Our top 3 Women home were 10th Kristy Smith 1.28.32, 18th Kelcy Hooper 1.33.07 and 24th Millie Thorne 1.35.49.

Sunday 16th February was the Wrexham Half Marathon where Joshua Griffiths had a fantastic run to place 3rd in 1.05.35 and Sam Joseph was 98th in 1.15.36, well done both.
