Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Loughborough, Rhayader, Brecon, Newport, Cardiff & Tokyo Japan.

Saturday 1st March was the inaugural UKA/England Athletics Winter Long Throws Championships at Loughborough, with those competing looking to qualify for the upcoming European Throwing Cup, the World Championships in Tokyo and the European U23 Championships. Swansea Harriers had two athletes invited U20W Lucy Harris who placed 3rd in the Discus with 38.53m and U20M Lewie Jones in the Javelin who also placed 3rd with a best of 55.64m, congratulations both!

Saturday 1st March was the Rhayader Round the Lakes 10km & 30km. No one did the 10km from the club but we did have 5 finishers in the 30km, in the Womens race first home in 14th was Lois Woodward in 2.33.10, just behind in 16th was Jennifer Roberts 2.35.49, 35th Caroline Morgan 2.49.07 and 97th Kelly Gipson 3.19.08. In the Men Richard Sullivan was our sole finisher for 140th in 2.48.19, well done everyone.

Sunday 2nd March was the fifth and final round of the John Collins Gwent Cross Country League at a very sunny Brecon. Our thanks to all the athletes who ran on the day, and to those who ran across the five fixtures, as well as to all the team managers who did a great job in getting such great turnouts. At Brecon our 4 scorers for the juniors and 5 for the seniors, plus final league standings were as follows:

U11G Molly Mae Mqueen made it 4 wind out of the 5 fixtures ending a fantastic season top of the individual league table too, followed home by 15th Ruby Harvey-Flinn, 21st Matilda Warchal and 24th Olive Knutson-Watson. The team did really well to finish the season 2nd in the league.

U11B had three runners Jenson Achilleos who had a great run to finish 5th on the day and the 5th individual overall at season end, 62nd Keegan Beale and 69th Billy Cuthbertson. The team ended the season 11th in the league.

U13G had just the two runners 19th Gwennan Gruffydd and 36th Rosie Jones. The team ended the season in a solid mid table 9th.

U13B despite missing the fixture due to holidays, Oliver Cobbold had a great season to win the individual league across the 5 fixtures. At Brecon our scoring team were 17th Tomi Jones, 19th Isaac Mcadie who was also 9th in the overall individual league, 24th Bo Cuthbertson and 28th Lucas Gibbs. The team did brilliantly to end the season 3rd in the league.

U15G saw Katie Evans cross the line first in 13th followed home by 28th Hannah Jones, 35th Aimee Besley and 37th Hannah Sullivan. Yet another team that ended the season in a podium position of 3rd in the league table final standings.

U15B Jack Griffiths was our sole runner coming home in 5th. The team ended the season 6th in the league.

U17W what a fantastic team they have been to comfortably win the league, and individually taking a clean sweep of the top 3 overall places with Millie Gold 1st, Holly Humphreys 2nd and Millie Pierce 3rd just behind Chloe Hartley Green in 5th! At Brecon Millie G was 1st, Millie P 2nd Chloe 8th and 17th Imogen Mcadie. Team wise they easily won the league and in fact our B team placed 3rd in the league overall, absolutely amazing!

U17M had three finishers, first home was 12th Jack Sullivan, 20th Evan Price and 27th Oskar Radka. The team ended the season 9th in the league.

Senior & Masters Women & M65+ saw an awesome win for Gemma Tutton in what may be one of her last race for the club before moving to live in Australia, her efforts will be hugely missed, followed by 35th Maria Kowal, 45th Jemima Osborn Nash, 110th Caroline Morgan and 116th Felicity Jones. The team ended the season a solid mid table on 5th form 12 in division 1.

Senior & Masters Men 59th Patrick Tudor, 93rd Martyn Hughes-Dowdle, 169th Gair Mcadie, 205th Peter Osborne & 212th Heath Brett. The team retain their place in Division 1 placing 9th out of the 12 teams.

Sunday 2nd March was the Newport Half Marathon where first home in the Men for the club was 18th John Moran in 1.18.57 followed home by 117th Joseph Walker 1.27.40 and in the Womens race we had two finishers too 14th Llinos Jones 1.31.34 and 282nd Tina Gabb 2.07.41, well done all.

Sunday 2nd March was Vault Cardiff where we had 3 athletes in action, recording the following heights, U17W Ellie Dunleavy 2.80m, U17W Lyra Roberts 2.74m and U17W Alice Prosser 2.24m, congratulations all!

Sunday 2nd March M40 Matthew Harvey makes the long trip to Tokyo Japan to run the Marathon finishing in 2.36.18, well done Matthew.
