Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Falkirk, Aberystwyth. Pembrey, Pulford, Tairgwaith, Hendon & Stratford.

Saturday 22nd March was the U15 & U17 Wales V England V Scotland V Ireland Schools Cross Country International @ Callandar Park, Falkirk, Scotland, after a very challenging journey to get to Falkirk our six Welsh Schools Internationals still performed excellently against the very best Juniors in the UK & Ireland. Our top performer was 8th Holly Humphreys in the U17W, 20th Sioned John, Wales team captain Millie Pierce placed 22nd, U15B Oliver Cobbold was 22nd and U15G Lyla Jonsson placed 28th, and very well done to Olivia Morgan who picked up a BRONZE medal in the U17 4 x 1500m cross country relay, very many congratulations to them all on those international call ups, click here for the full results.

Saturday 22nd March was the Nant Yr Arian Silver Trail Half Marathon & 10km incorporating the Welsh Senior & Masters Championships where Joshua Griffiths was our sole representative, having a great run to take the win in 1.25.59 over the Half Marathon, many congratulations Joshua!

Saturday 22nd March was the Welsh Seniors & Masters Road Relay Championships at Pembrey Country Park. It was great to see such a large turnout. The club had a very successful day doing the quadruple winning both Male & Female seniors and masters races and winning plenty of other team medals listed below, our thanks to Paul Stillman once again for all the fantastic images.

Senior Men won GOLD with the team of Dewi Griffiths, Jonathan Butler, Dafydd Jones & Matthew Verran. Dewi Griffiths was fastest across all clubs in terms of leg times!

Senior Women won GOLD with the team of Millie Gold, Kate Roberts, Gemma Tutton & Sioned Howells.

Masters Men 35-44 won GOLD & SILVER with the teams of Craig Jones, Marc Hobbs & Matthew Harvey and Daniel Newton, Andrew Cleverley & Michael Bryant. Marc Hobbs was the fastest across all clubs for leg times!

Masters Women 35-44 won GOLD with the team of Caryl Edwards, Maria Kowal & Joanna Callan. Caryl Edwards was fastest across all clubs in terms of leg times!

Masters Men 45-54 won BRONZE with the team of Martyn Hughes-Dowdle, Ifan Lloyd & Charles Walsh.

Masters Women 45-54 won SILVER with the team of Helen-Marie Davies, Vanessa Harragan & Julie Hartley-Green.

Masters Women 55-64 won SILVER with the team of Sharon Leech, Angela Delaney & Caroline Morgan.

Sunday 23rd March saw SW Verity Ockenden have an awesome run and a massive 30 second personal best in the Pulford 10km to finish 2nd in very fast time of 31.32, taking her to 4th in the overall UK rankings to date, which incorporated the trial for the Great Britain 10K team to compete at the European Road Running Championships, hopefully this will see her pick up another GB&NI Vest when the team is announced, well done Verity! UPDATE: Verity’s run was indeed enough to get her selected once again for the GB&NI team in the European Road Running Championships in Belgium on 12th & 13th April, very many congratulations and good luck to Verity from everyone at the club, click here for the official team announcement.

Sunday 23rd March was the West Glamorgan Cross Country League 5th and final round at a brand new venue of Amman Valley Trotting Club at Tairgwaith. Very well done to all those who ran, our top 5 Men & Women home were: Men having a great run for 2nd was Andrew Cleverley, followed home by 17th Paul Flynn, 22nd Martyn Hughes-Dowdle, 53rd Peter Osborne and 59th Heath Brett. Women: also having a great run for 2nd was Maria Kowal, followed home by 36th Caroline Morgan, 41st Angela Delaney, 64th Sian Phillips. Our sincere thanks to all those club members that turned out for us over the season. The final league tables had our Senior Men in a very good 3rd in Division 1 and our Women in a solid 5th in Division 1.

Sunday 23rd March was the Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers Throws Open 1 of 2 at Hendon, where M70 Chris Pruski threw the 600g Javelin out to 28.67m, well done Chris.
