Results Round Up
This week we have plenty of results to round up for you from Barry, Tonbridge, Sheffield, Loughborough, (Cardiff), Gnoll Country Park, Merthyr Tydfil, Lee Valley, Gothenburg Sweden & Llandridnod Wells.
Sunday 6th March was the Barry 40 mile and marathon track race, where over 105 and a bit laps (yes 105 laps) SM Gabrielius Stuokus finished in SILVER medal position in a time of 3:19:51, congratulations Gab!
Saturday 12th March were the British masters cross country championships held at Tonbridge, M60 Ifan Lloyd was our sole competitor placing 1st for GOLD in his age group and 43rd overall, well done Ifan!
The weekend of Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th March saw the England & UK Indoor Combined Event Championships held at Sheffield where three Swansea Harriers were in action. U15G Matilda Quick was 4th overall and 1st from Wales in the pentathlon breaking the 3000 points barrier recording a 9.60 60m Hurdles; 1.56m High Jump; 10.82m Shot; 4.77m Long Jump and a 2.48.89 800m taking her to 3039 points; U17W Bethan Holley placed 29th overall and 2nd in Wales in the pentathlon with a total of 2558 points from a 10.10 60m Hurdles; 1.47m High Jump; 7.47m Shot; 4.50m Long Jump & 2.48.04 800m and U17M Evan Cole competed across seven events in the Heptathlon recording a total of 3531 points placing 16th overall and 3rd in Wales from a 7.45 60m; 5.48m Long Jump; 8.25m Shot; 1.68m High Jump; 8.91 60m Hurdles; 2.23m Pole Vault and 3.22.00 1000m, very many congratulations to all three on such a fantastic set of results!
Saturday 12th March was the Vault Cardiff Indoor open meeting where Pole Vault was the only event on the menu, Swansea Harriers were well represented, we are awaiting the results and will hopefully have them for you next week.
Saturday 12th March were the UK Inter Counties cross county championships held at Loughbrough where the following Swansea Harriers were representing the West Wales region up against the very best UK cross country runners, in large fields: U13G 26th Millie Pierce; 58th Libby Hale Libby also won the cross challenge series overall, well done Libby! & 62nd Chloe Hartley-Green. U15G 63rd Ava Davies & 192nd Sophie Hartley-Green. 210th U17M Ben Sullivan. Senior Women 187th Sophia Harrison and 270th Julie Hartley-Green, very many congratulations to them all!
Sunday 13th March were the San Domenico 10 & 20 mile road races at Merthyr Tydfil. In the 10 mile first home was 4th W45 Helen-Marie Davies in 1:06:49 followed home by W50 Kelly Gipson 1:28.50 and in the 20 mile first home was Daniel Otteson in what we believe was his first ever race win for the club in 2:00:12, well done Daniel; followed home by 10th Charles Walsh in 2:13:53; 11th Steven Taylor 2:16:14 and 17th Tom Bacon 2:24:42, congratulations to them all!
Sunday 13th March was round 4 of 4 in the Seniors West Glamorgan Cross Country League held at Gnoll Country Park, with so many races this weekend our numbers were a little down on normal, however putting in some great runs for the teams were:
Men: 32nd Patrick Tudor; 45th Owen Davies; 55th Gabrielius Stuokus; 60th Rabab Rabab and 140th Uku Kumari. Our two mens teams ended the season both 4th in Division 1 and Division 2, well done everyone!
Women: Llinos Jones had a superb run for 2nd followed home by 8th Diane Brownhill; 39th Nina Brocklebank and 48th Sian Phillips, our womens team ended the season in 3rd in Division 1 very many congratulations to all those runners who represented the club over the season!
Sunday 13th March U17W Hannah Kinane runs 4.40.27 for 1500m indoors in Gothenburg, Sweden, well done Hannah!
Sunday 13th March was the England Masters Athletics Association Inter Area Challenge at Lee Valley, London, representing Wales were M60 Ifan Lloyd placing 3rd in the 1500m in 5.07.18 and M65 Roderick Davies who was 7th in the 200m in 30.61, well done both!
Sunday 13th March was the Welsh Sportshall Athletics finals held at Llandridnod Wells. Due to all the complications with Covid 19 only three districts were able to field teams from the eight in Wales, luckily one of these was Afan Nedd Tawe who picked a scratch team. With not really knowing what Sportshall was the athletes did really well, competing in three events each, including the following from Swansea Harriers: U13B Arwel Richards; Deri Jones; Henry Payne & Seth Amas.
