Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from: Malaga Spain, California & Texas USA, Chelmsford, Yeovil, Cardiff x 2, Cheltenham, Dagenham & Swansea, including another all time club record!
Sunday 24th April SM Joshua Griffiths runs a 30.16 for 10km in Malaga, Spain placing 13th, well done Joshua on your fine run!
Friday 29th April SM Jonathan Hopkins runs a 3.52.36 for 1500m to finish 5th in a top class race in Stanford, California, USA, well done Jonathan!
Saturday 30th April U20W Macey Morris runs a 12.48 for 100m in College Station, Texas, USA, well done Macey!
Saturday 30th April to Monday 2nd May were the British Universities Championships at Chelmsford, several of our U20 & U23 members were in action, highlights included a superb SILVER for Joseph Brier in the 200m (21.19), his sister went one better with a GOLD for Hannah Brier in the 200m (23.72), a 6th place for Bethany Moule in the Javelin (44.94m) and an equal 5th place for Fynley Caudrey with 4.40m in the Pole Vault. Saturday 30th April & Sunday 1st May were the Somerset Schools Combined Events Championships in Yeovil, where three Swansea Harriers juniors were competing as guests, having a great day one of whom came away with an all time club record! U17M Evan Cole scored 3562 points in the Octathlon coming home with eight personal bests too! He’d not done discus, javelin, 400 or 1500 before, but his 14.19 in hurdles, 1.71m high jump, 5.92m long jump and 9.39m shot), eventually placing 10th out of 16. U15G Sophie Taylor scored 1975 points coming 10th out of 26 with PBs in the shot 7.02m, 75m hurdles 15.25, High Jump 1.34m and 800m in 2.54.14. The main highlight came from U15G Matilda Quick who came 1st overall courtesy of a PB in 75m hurdles 12.07, =PB shot 11.12m, 1.55m High Jump, 4.73m long jump and a PB of 2.45.62 in the 800m, amassing 2945 points and all time club record, congratulation all, especially Matilda!
Sunday 1st May was the Cardiff 5km incorporating the Welsh 5km Championships. The club were well represented with 15 finishers, congratulations to them all especially Finley Hines on his Welsh U20 vest:
Men: 14th Jonathan Butler 14.43; 23rd Finley Hines 14.49; 47th Ben Williams 15.35; 55th Jack Turner 15.43; 64th Matthew Verran; 88th Andrew Cleverly 16.17; 101st Daniel Otteson 16.29; 112th Matthew Richards 16.45; 122nd Steven Taylor 16.48; 271st Paul Llewllyn 19.02 and 321st Alex Simpson 19.33.
Women: 288th Megan Clements 19.16; 290th Sian George 19.03; 305th Llinos Jones 19.33; 341st Helen-Marie Davies 19.43 and 468th Nina Brocklebank 21.54.
Sunday 1st May SM Lemarl Freckleton runs a fast 21.93 for 200m in Dagenham, well done Lemarl!
Monday 2nd May U17M Lewie Jones throws a big 56.51m Javelin in Cheltenham, well done Lewie!
Wednesday 4th May was the Afan Nedd Tawe Schools & Colleges U15 U17 & U20 Championships at Swansea University. In a very well attended fixture there were lots of great results from athletes attached to the club and quite a few who weren’t, well done to all the teachers and volunteers who made the event possible, it was great to see a full event program. Wednesday 4th May was the Welsh Athletics Sprints open meeting in Cardiff, all four men ran under 11.0 with SM Leon Greenwood recording 10.60, SM Daniel Beadsley 10.62; U20M Dylan Morgan ran a 10.84 close to the club record and U20M Thomas Payne 10.94, well done all!
