Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Birmingham, Cardiff & Aberdare.
Sunday 1st May SM Dewi Griffiths runs 65.10 for a superb win in the Birmingham Half Marathon, congratulations Dewi!
Saturday 7th May saw the new formatted combined Senior Men & Women National Athletics League get underway with round 1 of 4 in Cardiff, and it was good start indeed against the very best track & field clubs in the UK with team placing a more than solid 5th, and lie 8th in the league table when both match scores are combined! Our thanks and congratulations to all the athletes, officials and team managers on staging such a great event. Highlights included top three placings for Thomas Walley with a 5.10m Pole Vault placing 3rd; Caryl Granville 58.68 400m Hurdles for 2nd & 14.24 100m Hurdles 3rd; Hannah Brier did the double with a 11.64 100m for 1st & 23.84 200m for 1st; Patrick Swan was a winner too with a 17.60m Shot; Dewi Griffiths 14.34.62 5000m for 2nd; Millicent Fakande, Stefani Karekla, Hannah Brier & Cerys Vico 4 x 100m for 3rd in 48.66 just missing the club record by 0.16 of a second! Sunday 8th May saw our U13 & U15 team compete in round 1 of the National Development League in Aberdare. Unfortunately the team placed dead last and are bottom of the league, we had pretty much a full girls team, but the turnout from the boys of just two U15 & four U13 was disappointing, considering there are well over 50 of them currently training with the club. The six super star boys of U15B Tyler Davies & Henry Payne and U13B Roman Jackson, Harry Jones, Deri Jones & Daniel Board did their utmost to cover as many events as possible and deserve huge credit for their endeavors for the team. In the girls highlights included top 3 placings in the A string from 3rd U15G Millie Pierce 2.31.88 800m; 3rd Ava Davies 4.55.70 1500m; 3rd Matilda Quick 11.89 75m Hurdles & 1st 1.60m High Jump & 1st Shot 10.40m; 3rd Sophie Taylor 4.32m Long Jump; 1st Seren Anderson-James 2.10m Pole Vault; 2nd Efa Williams 17.54m Discus & 2nd 21.95m Javelin and 2nd Nele Owen 24.51m Hammer.
U13G 3rd Lauren Oshisanya 11.01 75m & 2nd 7.22m Shot; 1st Georgie-Bo Davies 4.05.81 1200m; 3rd Mandida Rushesha 13.41 70m Hurdles & 3rd 1.30m High Jump and 3rd 4 x 100m Lauren OSHISANYA, Rutendo CHASWEKA, Mandida RUSHESHA, & Tabitha VENTRESS-BRETT 58.00. Sunday 8th May was the Welsh Athletics open meeting for U17 to Seniors at Cardiff, where U20M Owain Clarke ran 61.94 for 400m Hurdles, SW Megan Stratton-Thomas did the 5000m walk in 27.31.53; U17W Mai Davies 5.00.85 in the 1500m; U17M Steffan Higgins 2.0.85 800m and U20W Ella Davies 2.25.43 800m.
