Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Nembro Italy, Aberdare, Newport,Munich Germany & Swansea and those club records keep getting broken this year with another three gone!

Back on Tuesday 2nd August SW Verity Ockenden runs a 9.17.87 over 3000m in Nembro Italy to place 6th in the Meeting Internazionale “Città di Nembro, well done Verity!

Tuesday 9th August was the Cardiff Throws open at Aberdare where U17W Rebekah Pratt threw a 33.97m Hammer, well done Rebekah!

Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th August was the U13, U17 & U20 Welsh Junior Championships, whilst not our greatest turnout in terms of numbers, nonetheless there were many seasons bests, personal bests and medals won in temperature over 30 degrees all weekend! Very well done to all those who participated and to our medalists below and to U15G Libby Hale who ran up an age group and beat the all time club record for 3000m for U15G, well done Libby! Matilda Quick also competing up an age group beat her own all time U15G Club Record for Shot, well done Matilda too!

Monday 15th August at the European Athletics Championships in Munich, Germany, SM Joseph Brier was desperately unlucky to miss out on progressing from the 400m round 1 to the semi final by just 0.02 of a second! Joseph ran well to place 5th in 46.06, well done Joseph! He still has the 4 x 400m to go! You can read here how and when to see Joseph in the 4 x 400m on TV Friday 19th & Saturday 20th August.

Wednesday 17th August at home in Swansea was the Welsh Athletics U20 International. In what was a very high standard of competition with teams from Wales, Welsh Schools, Northern Ireland, Ireland, England South, England North & England Midlands competing, it was awesome to see eight Swansea Harriers in action for either of the Wales teams; George Snaith threw a PB in the Javelin of 46.05m for 5th; Harry Newton competing up an age group vaulted 3.82m in the Pole Vault for 3rd; Oscar Dun threw a 13.08m in the Shot for 4th; Joseph Beresford ran a 59.94 for 5th in the 400m Hurdles; Owain Clarke was also in the 400m Hurdles placing 6th in 60.50; Sam Davies was 3rd in the High Jump with 1.92m; the main highlight of the evening for us was Dylan Morgan running and equaling our all time U20M club record in the 100m with a 10.80 well done Dylan! Tiffany Rees was 5th in the 800m with 2,20.23. Dylan and Tiffany also ran in the 4x 100m & 4 x 400m respectively.
