Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Exeter, Loughborough, Swansea, Tipperary, Moulton & Aberdare.
Tuesday 30th August U23W Carys Jones runs a PB for 1500m in Exeter with a a time of 4.49.72, well done Carys!
Friday 2nd September and Saturday 3rd September was the UK School Games at Loughborough where four of our juniors were selected to represent teams compiled of the top 8 best available U17 athletes in the UK split evenly in a Barbarian rugby style. Lucy Harris was in team “Kuala Lumper” and finished 4th in the Discus with a best of 37.66m; Harry Newton of “Birmingham” placed 7th in the Pole Vault with 3.70m; Amy Beynon of “Melbourne” placed 7th in Pole Vault with 3.00m and Lewie Jones “Manchester” won brilliant BRONZE with 58.17m in the Javelin. Very well done to them all on gaining such a great experience in a multi sport championships.
Saturday 3rd September the club hosted the Gwilym Evans Swansea Harriers Indoor Pole Vault, Long, High & Triple Jumps Open Meeting in memory of our former chairman. Our sincere thanks to all the qualified officials and organisers who made the event possible as well as to all the parents who mucked in on the day too assisting. We hope all the athletes enjoyed, highlights included our overall top jumper in each event and age group as follows:
Long Jump: SM Robin Wood 4.10m; U17M Evan Cole 5.89m; U17W Bethan Holley 4.99m; U15B Cai Allan 4.34m; U15G Matilda Quick 4.69m; U13B Tom Davies 3.58m; U13G Rutendo Chasweka 3.84m; U11B Elliott Lloyd 2.94m and U11G Gwennan Gruffydd 3.35m.
High Jump: U20M Samuel Davies 1.90m; U17M Evan Cole 1.75m; U15G Matilda Quick 1.55m; U13B Nathan Cox 1.10m; U13G Tabitha Ventress-Brett 1.30m and U11G Gwennan Gryffydd 1.10m.
Triple Jump: SM Robin Wood 9.18m; U17M Reuben De Vall 10.29m; U17W Bethan Holley 10.26m and U15B Evan Lewis 9.18m.
Pole Vault: U17M Charlie Shuall 3.20m; U15B Cai Allan 3.20m; U15G Ruby Campion 2.10m; U13B Arwel Richards 2.40m and U13G Georgie Bo Davies 2.10m.

Saturday 3rd September M65 Paul Flynn ran in the World Masters Mountain Running Championships in Tipperary, Ireland in the Comeragh Mountains in County Waterford finishing a great 26th overall and 10th Briton over the very tough short course, as you’d expect for a Mountain race, in a time of 51.26! Well done Paul!
Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th September was the England Athletics throws camp fest at Moulton where U17W Lucy Harris threw a 35.15m in the Discus and U17M Lewie Jones a 57.12m in the Javelin, well done both mixing with the very best throwers in the UK across all age groups!
Sunday 4th September was the Welsh Masters (35+) Championships at Aberdare where our more experienced and very, very experienced athletes were in action, and where we won a hatful of medals courtesy of some awesome performances by:
18 GOLD: M40 Matthew Gilbert 28.11 200m; W75 Daphne Marler 1.84m Long Jump & 3.39m Triple Jump & 12.03m Hammer; M45 Owen Davies 2.28.87 800m & 5.09.52 1500m; M40 Gareth Robbins 2.41.62 800m; M35 Wyn Roberts 11.42 100m; M65 Chris Berry 1.16m High Jump & 26.11m Hammer & 7.76m Shot; W65 Renate Prells 26.85m Hammer & 18.32m Discus & 8.15m Weight Throw; W50 Diane Brownhill 5.54.90 1500m; M55 Robin Wood 3.97m Long Jump and M65 Roderick Davies 3.78m Long Jump.
4 SILVER: M40 Matthew Gilbert 13.25 100m; M65 Roderick Davies 14.32 100m; M55 Robin Wood 8.94m Triple Jump and W65 Renate Prells 6.29m Shot.
2 BRONZE: W50 Diane Brownhill 16.20 100m & 35.15 200m.
