Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Carmarthen, Cardiff, Swansea and Neath soon.

Sunday 7th May saw round 1 of the U13 &U15 Youth Development League hosted by ourselves at Carmarthen due to the ongoing delays with the completion of the track resurfacing at Swansea. Our thanks to Carmarthen Leisure Services & Carmarthen Harriers for allowing us to use their facilities at such short notice, all the volunteers who made the event possible and to all the competing teams for changing their travel arrangements. The squad made a massive improvement on last year to finish 2nd on the day; 1st Cheltenham & County Harriers 587.5, 2nd Swansea Harriers 507.0; 3rd Swindon Harriers 466.0; 4th Cardiff Athletics 465; 5th Yate & District 344 and 6th Newport 304.5. Our thanks to the whole squad for mucking in on the day many competing in two or more individual events each, plus a relay! Individual highlights included A string victories for: U15B Ruari Harris 12.28 100m; U15B Tyler Davies 2.40m Pole Vault; U15B Henry Payne, Harry Morris, Matthew Hines & Ruari Harris 48.94 4 x 100m; U15G Libby Hale 42.17 300m; U15G Trinease Braithwaite 4.10m Long Jump; U15G Mandida Rushesha 1.41m High Jump; U15G Ruby Campion 2.40m Pole Vault; U13G Taylor Shelmerdine 21.36 150m; U13G Rutendo Chasweka 12.43 70m Hurdles & 4.52m Long Jump and U13G Millie Jayham 1.30m High Jump. Wednesday 10th May was race 1 of 3 in the Paul Popham 5km Series at Swansea where in the Womens race the top 8 places all went to Swansea Harriers! 1st Ashleigh Willis 17.59; 2nd Sioned Howells 18.23; 3rd Mai Davies 18.34; 4th Sophie Hartley-Green 19.00; 5th Chloe Hartley-Green 19.04; 6th Joanna Callan 19.07; 7th Llinos Jones 19.48 and 8th Ella Davies 19.51 amazing! In the Mens race first home for the club in 5th was Sam Joseph 16.53 followed home by 8th John Moran 17.31; 12th Anthony Jones 17.51; 16th Alan Davies 16.57 and 24th Tom Bacon 19.30 to make our top 5. Wednesday 10th May was a Welsh Athletics Open Meeting at Cardiff where SW Zoe Dakin threw 42.04m in the Hammer,  U20W Lucy Harris threw another PB of 43.42m in the Discus; U20m Dylan Morgan ran 10.96 100m & 22.46 200m; U20M Marek Warzocha 11.12 100m & 22.47 200m; SM Noah Ernest 11.53 100m & 22.74 200m; SW Millicent Fakande 12.95 100m & Donna Jones 13.50 100m & 27.70 200m. Well done all on such a great set of results!

Thursday 11th May was the Afan Nedd Tawe U15 U17 & U20 Championships also held at Neath due to the track resurfacing issues at Swansea, in very wet weather at time the event manged to get all events completed eventually. The results will be typed by their volunteer over the next week to ten days, after they have dried out before distribution to PE staff for scrutiny.
