Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Yate, Newport & Cardiff & London.

Saturday 12th August saw the Welsh Masters Track & Field Championships incorporated into the Avon & Yate Open meeting in Yate. Where five of our super star masters were on fire coming away with another hatful of medals including M65 Roderick Davies in the 100m 14.57, 200m 30.94 & Long Jump 3.86m; M45 Owen Davies 1500m 4.56.96 & 3000m 10.48.21; M40 Gareth Robbins 1500m 5.23.50 & 3000m 12.34.98; W75 Daphne Marler 1.44m Long Jump & 3.65m Triple Jump and M70 David Jones Hammer 17.83m, congratulations all such top performances!

Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th August were the Welsh U13 U17 & U20 Track & Field Championships at Newport. We had a pretty good turnout from the club considering the championships are scheduled in the middle of the school holidays. Those present gained invaluable championship experience and came home with following medal haul:

9 GOLD: U20M Joseph Beresford 59.15 400m Hurdles; U17M Reuben De Vall 63.21 400m Hurdles; U20M Oscar Dun 38.44m Discus; U20M Sam Davies 1.95m High Jump; U17M Louis Shuall 3.70m Pole Vault; U20M Harry Newton 3.50m Pole Vault; U20W Lucy Harris 38.52m Discus; U17W Matilda Quick 11.84m Shot and U13G Taylor Shelmerdine 4.39m Long Jump.

8 SILVER: U17M Ben Fenwick 41.03m Hammer; U20M Evan Cole 5.94m Long Jump; U20M Oscar Dun 12.62m Shot; U17W Matilda Quick 1.60m; U20W Rebekah Pratt 2.20m Pole Vault; U20M Joseff Lewis 3.00m Pole Vault; U13B Thomas Davies 13.44 75m Hurdles and U13B Dylan Wakley 6.44.74 1000m Walk.

9 BRONZE: U13B Ioan Jones 8.82m; U20M Evan Cole 1.75m High Jump; U13G Taylor Shelmerdine 27.92 200m; U17M Oliver Philpott 3.10m Pole Vault; U13G Rutendo Chasweka 12.25 70m Hurdles & 4.11m Long Jump; U13G Elizabeth Nsozzi 1.20m High Jump; U20W Rebekah Pratt 7.49m Shot and U13B Roman Jackson 20.04m Discus.

Saturday 12th August was the Podium 5km at Cardiff incorporating a home counties international, where in top class fields of seeded races our top five fastest Men & four Women were:

Men: Jonathan Butler 14.20 also representing Wales! Representing the club Matthew Rees 14.58; Paul Tobin 15.03; Blair McWhirter 15.12 & Matthew Harvey 15.20.

Women: Megan Carter-Davies 16.52; Olivia Gwynn 17.34; Kate Roberts also representing Wales 17.37 and Hannah Williams 17.45.

Saturday 12th August SM Lemarl Freckleton runs a 49.28 seasons best for 400m at Hendon, well done Lemarl!

Sunday 13th August at the Newham & Essex Beagles open meeting in London SM Daniel Beadsley runs 10.74 for 100m and Eli Onewyu a wind assisted 10.64, SM Mitchell Lawrence runs 49.43 for 400m and SW Hannah Brier also over 400m finishes in 54.10, well done all!
