Sunday 27th October West Glamorgan Cross Country Senior League at Aberavon Beach

10am Sunday 27th October 2024 sees round 1 of 5 in the West Glamorgan Cross Country League at Aberavon Beach, Port Talbot, SA12 6QW. There is no selection for this race by team managers, athletes should enter themselves online here.

It was a successful end to the season last year with both our Men’s and Women’s teams placing 2nd in Division 1.

Get ready for a tough but beautiful coastal  out and back, course on Aberavon Beach! Our 4.7 mile route is predominantly on sand, offering a challenge for all runners. Trail shoes are highly recommended. No spikes allowed!

PARKING INFORMATION

• Ocean Way Car Park – Pier Way, Port Talbot, SA12 7NS
• Scarlet Avenue Car Park – Scarlet Avenue, Port Talbot, SA12 7PH

      • Please do not use the Leisure centre car park.

• Limited free parking is available across the beach front.

Please car share where possible or jog to the race if you’re local. Follow directions from the marshals and allow extra time to park. Use the pay machines or apps to pay as soon as you arrive to avoid any fines or penalties.

CLUB TENTS AND MARQUEES

Club tents and marquees are welcome to be pitched on the beach at the club’s own risk.

REGISTRATION

Will be held inside the surf life saving club (opposite RNLI). Team captains will collect race numbers. Don’t forget to bring your own pins and ensure numbers are displayed on the front of your vest for easy scanning.

RACE RULES

• After crossing the finish line, keep moving through the funnel. Your race barcode will be scanned at the end.
• No headphones or mobile phones during the race. Violators will be disqualified.
• The course is shared with the public, dogs, and horses, so be mindful and courteous.
