Welsh & West Wales Junior & Senior Indoor Athletics Championships Fast Approaching Closing Dates

Please ensure you all keep that new year resolution, not to miss any closing dates in 2023! Late January and February sees three weekends of Welsh & West Wales Indoor Junior & Senior Championships, with fast approaching closing dates, not to be missed. In particular in the case of the Welsh Championships these have some very early closing dates.

First up are the Welsh Athletics Senior & Under 15 Championships over the weekend of 28th January & 29th January.

Entry fees for Seniors are £10 per event for the first 2, then £5 for each extra event. Entry fees for U15 are £8 per event for the first 2, then £4 for each extra event. Entries close 11.59pm this Sunday 8th January.

U15 = school years 8 & 9 for these events.

Events on Saturday 28th January:
Under 15 Girls: 60m Hurdles, 60m, 1500m, Long Jump & Triple Jump.
Under 15 Boys: 60m Hurdles, 60m, 1500m, Pole Vault, Long Jump & Triple Jump.
Senior Women: 60m Hurdles, 60m, 400m, 1500m, Triple Jump & Shot Put.
Senior Men: 60m Hurdles, 60m, 400m, 1500m, Pole Vault, Triple Jump & Shot Put.

Events on Sunday 29th January:
Under 15 Girls: 200m, 300m, 800m, 3000m, Pole Vault, High Jump & Shot Put.
Under 15 Boys: 200m, 300m, 800m, 3000m, High Jump & Shot Put.
Senior Women: 200m, 800m, High Jump, Pole Vault & Long Jump.
Senior Men: 200m, 800m, High Jump & Long Jump.

Second up are the Welsh Athletics U13, U17 & U20 Indoor Championships on 4th February & 5th February.

Entry fees are £8 per event then £4 for each extra event.

Age groups for these events are:

U13 = School Years 6 & 7. U17 = School years 10 & 11. U20 = School years 12 & 13.

The closing date is 11.59pm Sunday 15th January.

Events on Saturday 4th February:
U13: 200m, 800m, High Jump, Long Jump (Girls only) & Shot (Boys only).
U17: 200m, 800m, 3000m, High Jump, Long Jump & Shot (Girls only).
U20: 200m, 800m, 3000m, High Jump, Long Jump & Shot (Girls only).

Events on Sunday 5th February:
U13: 60m, 1500m, 60m Hurdles, Long Jump (Boys only) & Shot (Girls only).
U17: 60m, 300m (Girls only), 400m (Boys only), 1500m, 60m Hurdles, Pole Vault, Triple Jump & Shot (Boys only).
Under: 60m, 400m, 1500m, 60m Hurdles, Pole Vault, Triple Jump, Shot (Boys only).

Third up are the West Wales Indoor Athletics U11 to Senior Championships at Swansea University over the weekend of Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th February 2023.

EVENTS BY DAY –
Saturday 18th February – Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump & Pole Vault.
Sunday 19th February – 60m, 60m Hurdles & Shot.

WEST WALES ELIGIBLITY –
This event is open to West Wales eligible athletes only. Athletes must have one of the following qualifications:
A: – Birth; the athlete having been born in West Wales (Dyfed or West Glamorgan).
B: – Residence; a minimum of 9 months continuous residence in West Wales immediately prior to this event.

AGE GROUPS –
U11 Boys & Girls = School Years 4 & 5 (60m, Long Jump, Shot).
U13 Boys & Girls = School Years 6 & 7 (60m, 60m Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot).
U15 Boys & Girls = School Years 8 & 9 (60m, 60m Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot).
U17 Men & Women = School Years 10 & 11 (60m, 60m Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot).
U20 Men & Women = School Years 12 & 13 (60m, 60m Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot).
Senior Men & Women (60m, 60m Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Shot).
NB Masters compete as Seniors in this Championship.

Closing Date for entries: Tuesday 14th February @ 17:00
Entry Fee: £5 per event
Athletes can enter a maximum of 3 events per day
West Wales medals will be awarded to the top three in each age group and event.
